NASHVILLE, TENN. – (Apr. 10, 2015) – Platinum-selling country music artist Scotty McCreery was in Grapevine, TX performing two private shows last week when he learned that the players in Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series were staying at the same hotel. As a passionate fan of the sport and someone who has worked with RBI in the past, the former high school baseball pitcher volunteered to speak with the teams and encourage them to remain involved with the game. MLB.com was on site and interviewed McCreery for their online show “The Rundown,” which can be watched here.
Just a few days prior, McCreery met with Greg and Rebekah Fryer before his concert in Camden, NJ. Last year, Greg had surprised Rebekah on a Southwest Airlines flight and proposed to her with their song, McCreery’s Platinum-certified Top Ten hit single “See You Tonight,” playing on the plane’s sound system. The singer/songwriter learned about the proposal earlier this year when he read a letter in the airline’s in-flight publication, Southwest: The Magazine, and had spread the word through both the media and social media that he wanted to meet the couple. Now married and living in the Philadelphia area, the Fryers contacted his management and were able to come out to his show at the Susquehanna Bank Center as part of the Rascal Flatts RIOT 2015 Tour. The full story of the Fryers’ proposal and meeting with McCreery, including a video of the proposal, can be viewed on People.com here.
McCreery’s new single, “Southern Belle,” will be available for purchase Aug. 24 and impacts country radio Sept. 7. The song, written by Sean McConnell and Jason Saenz, is the first single from McCreery’s upcoming new album due out in early 2016.
McCreery is on the road throughout the summer, both on his own and as the special guest on the Rascal Flatts RIOT 2015 Tour. Visit ScottyMcCreery.com for tour dates and ticket information.
In-between concert dates, the Mercury Nashville / 19 / Interscope recording artist is writing songs as well as working in the studio on his next album with producer Frank Rogers. The ACM, CMT Music, ACA, and ICM Award winner scored two consecutive Top 10 hits (the Platinum-certified “See You Tonight” and the Gold-certified “Feelin’ It”) from his last album See You Tonight, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It was his third album to debut at No. 1 on a Billboard chart following his Platinum-certified first album Clear As Day, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, and his Gold-certified album Christmas with Scotty McCreery, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Holiday Albums Chart.
