Marc Ekins

"JUST LIKE THAT"

bio

Marc Ekins is a singer/songwriter from Oakwood, Ontario, who has been performing at hospitals, retirement homes and charity events since he was twelve. As a teenager Marc also acted in many lead roles in High School and Community Theatre productions. His interest in acting led him to a starring role in two National Public Service Announcements for the Canadian Government's "Stay in School" campaign. Marc then attended Sheridan College's Musical Theatre program, earning his college tuition by performing on the streets. In 1995 Marc bought an old pickup truck and drove to Kelowna, B.C. where he was hired as Entertainment Director at The Big White Ski Resort.

Marc wrote the title track & first single for the album "Regular Romeo" while sitting on the back of his pickup in the Okanagan Valley. Other songs inspired by Marc's trip to the West include "Doin' Time" & "2000 Miles."
Marc spent a year-and-a-half in Western Canada, writing and performing wherever he could, and became a volunteer coach for the B.C. Special Olympics power lifting athletes.

The next adventure Marc embarked on was aboard Royal Caribbean's "Monarch of the Sea" cruise ship. Although hired as the Sports Director, Marc was given the chance to perform once a week in front of 2400 guests in the ship's auditorium. Marc wrote the remainder of the album while on the ship and returned to Oakwood in 1997 to record the album with the money he had saved over the previous two years.

After his album was recorded, and the music video finished, Marc returned to the ship for another six months. He then performed eight shows in two weeks in Europe, while the single "Regular Romeo" charted on RPM in Canada.
Marc recently recorded new songs and released his latest CD "Just Like That"
